Dear Friends of the National Tornado Summit,

After difficult deliberations, the National Tornado Foundation has decided to cease the National Tornado Summit.

Looking back at the Summit over the years, we are so proud of the positive outcomes in disaster preparedness, response and recovery. Former Insurance Commissioner John Doak and the Oklahoma Insurance Department established the first National Tornado Summit in 2012. Over the years we have enjoyed partnerships with University of Central Oklahoma, Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, National Weather Center, NOAA, Storm Prediction Center and National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your support of the National Tornado Summit. Whether you were a sponsor, exhibitor, speaker, attendee or volunteer, you made a difference in helping others prepare their community for disaster.

In an effort to continue our important mission, remaining National Tornado Summit funds will go towards a scholarship at the University of Central Oklahoma to aid students who will be studying disaster preparedness, response and insurance in honor of Commissioner Doak.

Again, we thank you for your support, and we hope you understand this very difficult decision.

Sincerely,

Kim Decker, Mark Gower & Patrick Marsh
